Phase Diagrams and Phase Transformations Ceramic Systems
Prof. Mohammad Imteyaz Ahmad and Prof. Pavan Pujar · IIT (BHU) Varanasi
About
Knowledge of phase diagrams is important for several domains in Materials science and engineering. This course will familiarize students with the fundamentals of phase stability required for design and processing of materials for applications such as refractories, glasses and multicomponent materials for functional and engineering applications. This course is intended to equip the students with the tools to analyze the unary, binary and ternary phase diagrams. After the successful completion of the course, students will be capable of understanding the interaction between the components and predicting their solidification behavior and microstructure.
Intended audience: Students of Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
Prerequisites: A fundamental understanding of materials thermodynamics and basic terminologies in materials science is essential.
