About
Anarchism and Visual Culture in Greater Mexico is a presentation by Rosalía Romero, a Chau Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Art History at Pomona College and a 2020 Swann Fellow awardee at the Library of Congress. Her talk examines the role anarchism played in debates about the aesthetics of modern art in Mexico. The Swann Foundation Fellowship, administered by the Library since 1999, features academics who use the collections of the Prints and Photographs Division, as well as other research areas of the Library to further their research related to caricature and cartoon. The Swann Foundation Board invites one or two of the applicants to whom it awards a fellowship to give a lecture at the Library of Congress to increase awareness of the resources of the Library of Congress and the wide spectrum of research that the collections support. Dr. Romero will have completed her research at the Library of Congress and returned to Pomona College in Claremont, California.
