About
Geographers on film is a collection of recorded video interviews conducted with hundreds of geographers between August 1970 and the early 1990s, including scholars who have shaped the discipline. The interviews highlight the rapid transformations in technology throughout the 20th century that brought about vast changes in people's daily lives and in how geographers conducted research. In this interview, Professor Leslie Hewes, semi-retired from University of Nebraska answers questions about his time at UC Berkely in the early 1930s, his research on the prairies and the Great Plains. Professor Hewes talks about his upcoming book on "suitcase frontier farming". He expresses hope that physical, cultural, historical-social geographers can continue to talk to each other and collaborate.
