About this episode
In this ASL-interpreted episode, Mister Rogers shares paintings of animals done by young friends. After looking at their art, Mister Rogers invites viewers to visit the animals at the Neighborhood Zoo. At the zoo, zookeeper Barbara Bingham invites Mister Rogers to prepare food for the giant pandas. He learns about the special way pandas eat. Mister Rogers also stops by and observes the seals, elephants, giraffes, tigers, and lions.
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday throws a parade for Ana Platypus's birthday, while the neighbors discuss that this doesn't seem like something Ana would particularly enjoy. Mrs. Platypus gifts Ana a kitten for her birthday. Afterward, Ana has a birthday picnic with Daniel Striped Tiger, Lady Aberlin, and Prince Tuesday. Daniel gifts her a toy truck he made, and Prince Tuesday performs a poem he wrote for her. Ana prefers the small picnic with close friends, however King Friday thinks a small celebration is unacceptable. Handyman Negri and King Friday discuss that not everyone likes the same things, and that's okay!
Back at the house, Mister Rogers shares that the best part of birthdays and any day is feeling that people love you, singing "Many Ways to Say I Love You."
