About this work

If you could see into the near infrared, the Orion Nebula might look something like this.

This multiband study of the Orion Nebula covered the near infrared, red, green, and blue bands along with H-alpha and [O III] emission. This image was assembled by adding infrared data to the red image channel, red data to the green image channel, and green data to the blue image channel. The resulting IR(G+B) palette reveals cool stars and stars extinguished by dust in red, hydrogen emission in green, and oxygen emission combined with reflection nebulosity in blue.
