About this work

This 3-panel mosaic of Messier 24, the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud, was taken in the infrared, red and green bands, revealing dim red dwarfs, cool red giants, and stars hidden behind galactic dust.

Within this field are the open clusters NGC 6603 (left) and Collinder 469 (center), the dark nebula Barnard 92 (right), and the H-II region Sharpless 41, which permeates the field with a green tint.
