今回訪れるのは古くから多種多様な漁業が盛んに行われてきた茨城県の霞ケ浦。中でも全国有数の天然うなぎの産地として知られていましたが、生育環境の変化により近年は漁獲量が減る一方。そんな中、天然のうなぎの魅力を伝えるべく天然うなぎにこだわった専門店を柏原さんが紹介します。

まず、向かったのは天然うなぎと一緒に楽しむための地酒探し。地元の道の駅でうなぎに合うと勧められた浦里酒造店の「霧筑波」を入手。

次に向かったのは、霞ケ浦の昔ながらの食文化を感じるべく、創業116年の老舗の佃煮屋「貝塚忠三郎商店」。旬を迎えた「しらうおの煮干し」や「えびの佃煮」を特別に試食させていただきます。

そして、いよいよ最後は天然うなぎが楽しめる「うなぎ村」へ。ここではうなぎ漁を体験し、目の前で捌いてもらい、焼く所を見ることができる完全予約制のシステム。早速、柏原さんも霞ヶ浦の水に浸かり、うなぎ漁へ向かうと幸運にも450gオーバーの天然うなぎをゲット。関東風でも関西風でもない、うなぎ本来の良さが楽しめるという特別な焼き方とは？
