About
The Aitken family achieved many firsts in American Biblical print history. In 1782, during the Revolutionary War, Robert Aitken produced the first English-language Bible printed in North America. His daughter, Jane Aitken, then became the first female to print the Bible in the United States in 1808 when she published Charles Thomson’s first-ever translation of the Greek Septuagint into English.
