About
Singer-songwriter Crys Matthews from northern Virginia singing Peggy Seeger’s original song “How I Long for Peace” from a performance of Peggy Seeger with the Short Sisters at the American Folklife Center symposium “How Can I Keep from Singing? A Seeger Family Tribute” at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. in 2007. From the Seeger family tribute collection, 2007 March 15-17, AFC 2007/006:MV06). The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress challenged musical artists to interpret material from its unparalleled archive of ethnographic recordings of traditional folk music. Artists were asked to put their own spin on these archival treasures, and to perform them at a special showcase during the Folk Alliance International conference in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2020. The showcase was recorded for this webcast.
