About
Ontario singer/songwriter Sarah Segal-Lazar and guitarist Gideon Yellin performing the song “This Old World’s in a Tangle,” from a field recording of Calvin Frazier, recorded by Alan Lomax on November 1, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan. From the Alan Lomax Collection of Michigan and Wisconsin Recordings (AFC 1939/007: AFS 2478). The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress challenged musical artists to interpret material from its unparalleled archive of ethnographic recordings of traditional folk music. Artists were asked to put their own spin on these archival treasures, and to perform them at a special showcase during the Folk Alliance International conference in Montreal, Canada, in 2025. The showcase was recorded for this webcast.
