About

As a part of the Eastern European Voices project, the Library’s Irene Madrigal interviews filmmaker Gabrielle Pfeiffer about her documentary “A Poet on the Frontline: The Reportage of Ryszard Kapuscinski.” Pfeiffer discussed the lasting impact of the writings of Polish author and journalist Ryszard Kapuscinski and his life as a “borderless” writer. Pfeiffer described how she modeled her film after Kapuscinski’s books, using narrative collage rather than linear storytelling. Pfeiffer received funding from an NEH grant that supported the creation of this documentary.
