About

The Snarky Sisterz (Diana Quinn and Lisa Ann Wright) from Washington, D.C., performing the song “Life is Like That” from a recording of William Lee Conley (Big Bill) Broonzy, Peter Chatman (Memphis Slim), and John Lee (Sonny Boy) Williamson at Decca Studios in New York, NY in 1947. Alan Lomax collection (AFC 2004/004:TD90r5). The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress challenged musical artists to interpret material from its unparalleled archive of ethnographic recordings of traditional folk music. Artists were asked to put their own spin on these archival treasures, and to perform them at a special showcase during the Folk Alliance International conference in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2020. The showcase was recorded for this webcast.
