The Mind ★ "Lost" Emmy Winning PBS Series with Book and MKV
. _ .
Requested by Ian Parker - and provided by RatterFat Video. Thank you for sharing: RatterFat Video! If not for the efforts of The RatterFat Alliance … this Primetime Emmy Award winning series would have been lost to time! I wish to thank the other agents, worldwide, who funnel data through RatterFat Video - for this fine find: Thank you!
I have located the companion book to this rare PBS series … you may borrow or buy it. Once someone hands their precious data off to me for safekeeping … I dig up as much related material about it as I can. Sometimes this yields additional documentation - in this case a book over 300 pages long … that is so heavy that you want to avoid dropping it on your foot! Sometimes I cannot find any information about a series or documentary - like that Astronomy 100 Class - but most times I'll scratch up a little something more to go with the video. A full sized 'Coffee Table' book - made to go with the educational series: is a rare and valuable addition to any page.

"The mind is what the brain does.", the narrator, George Page, says in the first show - and that sums up the whole nine and a half hour series. This PBS Series won the Emmy for "Outstanding Writing in Informational Programming" in 1989!

PBS SERIES FOCUSES ON 'THE MIND': Flipping from station to station by remote control, inveterate television watchers can tell almost instantly when they have chanced upon an educational science show. It is hardly even necessary to glance at the channel indicator. Earnest people in white coats sit in book-lined studies gesturing meaningfully. Chart recorders with twitching needles spew out paper marked with inscrutable zigzag lines. In the background, a voice, often British, narrates in a deadpan style the amazing wonders unfolding on the screen.
The Public Broadcasting System's nine-part series "The Mind," (which began in October of 1988), has its share of such familiar images. But Richard Hutton, the creator and executive editor of the series, has tried to ensure that interviews with scientists, experiments with monkeys, drawings of brain circuitry-the predictable science show fare-are interspersed with tales of exceptional people's lives.
Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
