About

I've decided to start archiving Tabaluga Tivi clips and stuff relating to Tabaluga Tivi to help preserve it, as much of this show is still lost. I'll update this as more of it is found! All of the videos except the Blumen one come from YouTube. I will note that some of the episodes segments, and have muted segments. The missing episode segments are due to copyright reasons. The muted credits segments are due to the song playing in the credits blocking the show in its original country, Germany. Some of the episodes are also, unfortunately, incomplete. If you have any part of these episodes, or even just promotional material or trailers of the show, please contact me! Below you'll find the information on the show that I've gathered, mainly from the German Wikipedia article on this show.

Tabaluga tivi was a German gameshow based on the popular German franchise, Tabaluga. It premiered on October 4th, 1997 and ended on May 21, 2011. The game show ran for 14 years, with a total 652 episodes. In each episode, two teams of children, one red and one yellow would compete against each other in 5 rounds (this was changed to 3 rounds in 2003). Action, skill, and knowledge games alternated. The candidates collected lucky points during the games (from 2003), which were converted into money and donated to a good cause. The donation goal was determined by the children beforehand. From 1997-2003, the children competed to obtain "The Golden Tabaluga", and money for the class fund.

It ran on Saturday afternoons, first at 1:30 PM, then again at 2:00 PM. In 2000, the show was moved to later in the morning. From 2006 to 2007, it was shortened to 65 minutes and was moved to airing at 7:20 in the morning. From 2008 onwards, it was shortened to 45 minutes and started airing at 7:15 AM, then 6:50 AM, until May 27, 2011 at 6:25 AM. The show was repeated on KiKa on Sundays at 3:30 PM, then at 3:00 PM, and finally at 10:45 AM.

The final game since the show started was the "Arktos Super-Spiele", which the goal of was to remember a path on a board indicated by lights after the light went out. For years, there was a second quiz in the first round. In 2003, it was replaced by the "Freundschaftbox", which was then replaced by "Wortball" in 2008.

The show had informational short film, comedy sketches, music acts, and a few series, "Ein tierisch tolles Haus" (2003-2011), "Tabaluga-Abenteuer" (2009-2010) and "4 gegen Arktos"(2010). They also aired episodes of German cartoons and TV shows during the show up until 2006.

The program was produced by MingaMedia on the behalf of ZDFtivi, and recorded in the Bavaria Studios in Unterföhring near Munich. The studio appearance changed throughout the years. First, it was called "Grünlandstudio", and it looked like a forest, aside from Arktos' area, which looked like an ice cave. The studio was then redesigned into a red and black studio in 2000. A sofa bed was also added, but it was removed in 2003. In 2008, the studio was redesigned again into a more modern looking studio. There was a new "Kommandobrücke" ("command bridge"), that provided a place for the studio technicians.
