Solve It ★ "Lost" Elementary Math Series
Solve It (Eighteen) 15 minute Math programs: made for Grade 6. ©1987
Develop and promote practical problem-solving strategies. Make learning mathematics interesting, and illustrate how mathematics apply to life outside the classroom.
Sixth-grade students learn to develop estimates, infer results, predict outcomes, and recognize unreasonable answers. Reasoning skills are emphasized over computation because knowing how to approach a problem is as important as finding the correct answer.
The Solve It video programs help students formulate key questions, analyze and conceptualize problems, define problems, discover patterns and similarities, experiment, suggest explanations, transfer skills and strategies to new situations, and draw on background knowledge in applying mathematics.
