Not offered: its uploader or archive marks it public domain, and nothing the site holds bears that out (its record gives no year, or a year from 1978 on, which no US term has left), so where it is free is not known. Unclear is not offered. Open it at the Internet Archive.

About

"There are 4 billion people on earth. 237 are Scanners. They have the most terrifying powers ever created …and they are winning."

"10 SECONDS: The Pain Begins.

15 SECONDS: You Can't Breathe.

20 SECONDS: You Explode."

"There thoughts can kill!"

"FUTURE SHOCK SOON... From AVCO EMBASSY PICTURES"

An unforgettable theatrical tagline (as seen on the poster ads billboards shortly before it's U.S. release to movie theaters) to one of the most shocking and clever science-fiction horror films ever made in the early 1980s. A true roller coaster ride of thrills!

The Canadian Box Office Hit film "SCANNERS" was released the same year as it's competitors: "Omen III: The Final Conflict", "Altered States", "Friday The 13th Part 2", "The Hand", and "Scream"... and received accolades from U.S. and International critics including the L.A. Times.

What you are about to view is the original first video release of "Scanners":

Written and Directed by Critically Acclaimed Canadian Filmmaker David Cronenberg, the director who brought you "The Brood" (1979) " Rabid" (1977), "They Came From Within" (1975) and Stars Jennifer O'Neill, Patrick McGoohan, Stephen Lack, Lawrence Dane and Michael Ironside.

You are beginning to view the opening to the original video distributor for the film's debut on videocassette tape on both VHS and Betamax formats from the defunct 20th Century-Fox Video, which was held at retail standard price of $79.99 in video stores way back in 1982, a year after it's theatrical release. 20th Century-Fox Video's introduction states, "The following feature is brought to you by Twentieth Century-Fox Video." This was only mentioned for films that were released from independent or different motion picture distributors outside of the 20th Century-Fox Pictures film market, such as AVCO Embassy Pictures Corporation.

It was 20th Century-Fox who would capture the "Style A" theatrical poster image with tagline. However, Due to the lack of video sales, but only rental success, 20th Century-Fox would retire the retail and rental of SCANNERS. In 1983, SCANNERS was not abandoned, as the cult film would immediately be acquired by one of the pioneers of cult horror, sci-fi and Box Office hit movies... the former Los Angeles, California based company Embassy Home Entertainment. The video company had the usual initial run standard box (as with all Embassy movies) the white over black colored print in Slipcase box cover for the film and was discounted for half the price of this original 20th Century-Fox first released video tape. The film remained with Embassy Home Entertainment throughout the entire decade of the 1980s with countless reprints, but failed to capture that original identical poster for the cover image which 20th Century-Fox originally printed flawlessly. Nonetheless, was highly successful in video stores in the rental and retail market throughout the '80s.

Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
