What is Tai Chi?

One day the Daoist monk Chang San-feng was disturbed by the sounds of a snake and a crane fighting in his courtyard. Each time the crane’s rapierlike beak stabbed, the flexible snake twisted out of reach. And the crane’s wings, like shields, protected its long neck from the snake’s striking head. According to the myth, from observing this battle, Chang San-feng developed the art of Tai-Chi Chuan (Grand Ultimate or Supreme Fist), which is based on the concept of yielding in the face of aggression.

(In my imagination … the snake/crane battle to the death was almost totally silent, because - the last time I checked - neither crane nor snake clanked when moving: or could scream very loudly.)

The Chinese believe these exercises prolong life … and enhance your "Chi" ("Spirit Breath" or 'life force'). It can also be considered a fine martial arts skill - or as "Moving Meditation". I hope the regular practice of these gentle exercises brings you many health benefits!

☹️ I didn't get a manual or other instructions with this course. I found a set of 4 DVD 'images' online - and extracted the 24 videos from them - so you could watch them all. The course appears to be self introductory and builds step by step upon itself - you should have no problem learning from it.
