(Kultur, 2000)
Running Time: 50 Minutes
Rousseau
Henri Rousseau was a true amateur. His professional life was spent working as a customs official. But his spare time was spent painting, and he was utterly convinced of the greatness of his art, despite his complete lack of formal technical skills. What he did bring to his painting was a sense of vitality, charm and, especially, innocence. His brightly-colored images of imaginary forests and wild animals are almost childish in their execution. Many contemporary critics were unimpressed.
