About
Hello and welcome to Princess's Super Skunk Update of Karas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karas_(anime)). There are four files here, two for each of the parts.
The enhanced files are the ones I recommend you watch. The DVD rips are provided for posterity.
The larger DVD rip files are the original files ripped from the DVDs with MakeMKV. These are presented with the original audio tracks, DVD subtitles, and in their native 720x480 interlaced resolution.
All files contain two subtitle tracks: one that just subtitles on-screen Japanese text, one otherwise unintelligible character, and song lyrics, and another that also includes dialogue. Note that the subtitles won't perfectly match the English dialogue because the dub was done separately.
The smaller "enhanced" files have been improved, by me, to create a better viewing experience. They have been:
- deinterlaced with nnedi
- upscaled with waifu2x
- encoded with h265/HEVC
- subtitles have been OCR'd, manually cleaned up, and embedded as ASS streams
The audio tracks have been copied over untouched and should be the same in both versions.
I'm uploading this because it's been extremely hard to find and I think more people should experience it.
Karas (Japanese: 鴉-KARAS-, Hepburn: Karasu, lit. The Crow) is a Japanese six-part original video animation series. Tatsunoko Productions produced it to commemorate its 40th anniversary of anime production. Each Karas episode was first televised in Japan as a pay-per-view program from March 25, 2005, to August 3, 2007, before being released onto DVDs. Manga Entertainment compiled and released these episodes as two feature length, direct-to-DVD films for the English market.
