About

This is the complete 26-episode run of the infamous 2006 TV anime Gundoh Musashi, a.k.a. Musashi Gundoh (because the official DVD boxset of Eps 1-8 in Japan actually use both orders), including the recap episode that aired in between Episodes 11 & 12, because the show actually wasn't able to keep up with its weekly schedule. All that is missing are the three recap specials that aired the three weeks after the final episode originally aired.

While the legendary joke subs are already available on the Internet Archive, this includes the short-lived attempt to actually fansub the show properly into English, which only covered the first four episodes.

Simply put, Gundoh Musashi is truly worth of the moniker "The Worst Anime of the Century" that it received in Japan. Though the concept behind it is actually rather good, the execution of the show is a downward spiral in which the show arguably gets worse & worse as it goes on, never managing to ever recover in any way, and the handful of honestly enjoyable & legitimately funny moments feel like miracles in & of themselves. Since Monkey Punch himself quickly disowned it (& his estate likely doesn't want anything to do with it), ACC Production went out a business a year after the show aired, & co-production company E-Net Frontier likely has no real ownership over it, the chances of Gundoh Musashi ever getting licensed today are likely 0.

This show is absolutely terrible, yet you can't help but continue watching it, if only to see what else it can possibly do that can top the ineptitude that came before. If you are curious about how it all came to this, please read this translation of the two-part interview with the producer & director that was done after the show finished airing in late 2006:
