These videos accompany Palomar College's 2026 Behavioral Sciences Statistics course "SOCIOLOGY 205". Quantitative and qualitative methods as applied to behavioral science data. Frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, variability, hypothesis testing, measures of probability and significance, correlation, regression, and inferential statistics. Also included are data entry, graphing, statistical analysis, and interpretation of data using word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical software.

Introduction: Statistics is a branch of mathematics that focuses on organization, analysis, and interpretation of a group of numbers. Even though statistics is a branch of mathematics it is applicable to any topic of Interest whether it be education biology business sales social science or even just understanding what you see in the news and advertisements. The great thing about statistics is that it's a lifelong useful tool and that you'll be able to use it no matter matter what your major is.

Now the four main goals of this course are first to learn how to perform statistical analyses yourself. The second goal is to learn the theories behind the statistical test which is important when deciding which test to choose when running your analyses. The third goal is to learn how to interpret and understand statistics presented in professional literature, which you will use no matter what type of literature or what field you go into, Fourth our goal is to think critically about everyday events.
