Welcome to the Autism Parent Club Podcast!

Are you parenting a child with autism and navigating the challenges of high support needs, communication barriers, challenging behaviors, medical concerns, or the uncertainty that comes with this journey? You’ve found your people.

We’re Chris and Becky—parents to a 19-year-old son with Level 3 autism and very high support needs. Each week, we share real-life stories from our journey, the things we’re learning along the way, and honest conversations about the joys, challenges, uncertainty, and everything in between.

In this episode:

In this episode, we share honest updates on life with our 19-year-old son with profound autism, including recent behavioral crises, navigating medical care and treatment decisions, and pursuing an AAC device to support his communication. We talk about the emotional roller coaster of feeling hopeful when things improve, only to have reality hit again when the hard parts of autism parenting are still there. Becky also shares what it's like to step away for a few days with another child while managing the realities of life at home. If you’re an autism parent who feels exhausted by the constant ups and downs, struggles with uncertainty, or wonders how to hold on to hope when progress isn’t linear, this conversation is a reminder that you can appreciate the good moments without pretending the hard ones don’t exist. Life with autism can be incredibly hard, and we don’t have to wait for everything to get easier before we’re allowed to enjoy our lives.
