Episode ARE CANADIAN REPORTERS BEING SILENCED? IS FORD AUTHORITARIAN? IS SMITH AIDING THE AB SEPARATISTS?
Recent developments raise urgent concerns about press freedom and democracy in Canada! The firing of CityNews Reporter Tina Yazdani, allegedly tied to her incisive reporting on Doug Ford's Ontario government and now Danielle Smith's Alberta government, "taking aim" at a Globe and Mail reporter, signals trouble for our democracy. This echoes the alarming actions of authoritarian leaders worldwide, like Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, who targeted media outlets to consolidate power.
Moreover, the alarming remarks from Alberta separatists, who believe Premier Smith will cater to their demands, along with Ford's attempts to undermine elected mayors and councils by appointing allies as Regional Chairs, should raise red flags for all Canadians. Are we witnessing the dawn of a Trump-like regime taking root in Alberta and Ontario?
We cannot stand idly by while our democratic values are threatened. Join former Alberta Deputy Premier Thomas Lukasik, founder of the #ForeverCanadian movement, and host Laura Babcock for a critical discussion about the risks facing Alberta, Ontario, and Canada as a whole.
Now is the time to take a stand for our democracy! Share your voice, engage in this conversation, and subscribe to stay informed. Together, we can protect the values that define us as Canadians!
