Theo một nghiên cứu của Dunkell (1977) trên 332 nghiệm thể, có bốn tư thế ngủ (Sleep position) phổ biến được nhận dạng: (1) nằm ngửa (Royal position), (2) tư thế bào thai (Full-fetal position), (3) nằm úp sấp(Prone position), (4) tư thế bán bào thai (Semi- fetal position). Trong đó, tư thế ngủ bào thai là một tư thế hết sức thú vị mà thông qua góc nhìn của tâm lý học, chúng ta sẽ thu được những phán đoán bất ngờ về nhân cách con người.
