Episode D’Arcy Carden Talks Janet in ‘The Good Place,’ ‘Broad City’ and New Show ‘Five Star Weekend’
This inimitable, hilarious, and quip-tastic D’arcy Carden joins us on the couch for the first time to discuss her new ensemble show ‘Five Star Weekend,’ where she plays an over-eager pal with zero social awareness alongside stellar cast including Jennifer Garner, Chloe Sevigny, Regina Hall, and Gemma Chan, to name a few! But we also had to get into her iconic other roles, specifically Janet from ‘The Good Place,’ her early years juggling improv at Upright Citizens Brigade, and popping into numerous eps of ‘Broad City’ thanks to her fellow UCB crew Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. Oh and nannying for none other than Bill Hader who she ultimately wound up on screen with ‘Barry’ alongside Henry Winkler. Phew.
We also discuss her adoration of Maya Rudolph (another co-star), her cool as hell upbringing in the Bay Area, her love of Pearl Jam, her cry prep playlist, her appearances on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy,’ plus her special bond with Lenny Kravitz and just what The Smashing Pumpkins had to do with her changing the spelling of her name. Don’t miss. She’s a hoot.
