    Topic 1.6: Summary

Mentor/coaching provides an opportunity for orientation and support for new staff and facilitates all staff becoming more comfortable with one another. It encourages loyalty and identification with the goals and purposes of the organization and increases productivity and builds capacity. Moreover, an effective mentor/coach and mentee relationship develops skills and talents that are underdeveloped or not previously recognized and seeks to aid in the development of a person's self-esteem and personal and professional growth.
