    Topic 3.8: Chapter Summary

Mentoring is a relational and reflective process that supports new teachers as they develop confidence, competence, and professional identity. Through intentional relationship-building, goal setting, feedback, and evaluation, mentors guide adult learners toward greater independence and growth. Effective mentoring benefits not only the mentee but also the mentor, strengthening teaching practice and professional communities.

    Reflection Prompts

What qualities do you think are most important in an effective mentor, and why? How can mentoring relationships support both professional growth and emotional resilience? Which mentoring step or framework in this chapter resonates most with your learning style? How should evaluation and feedback be used to support growth rather than judgment?
