    3.5.3: PRN Order

PRN orders are directions to administer drugs as needed. An example of a PRN order would be when a provider orders a pain reliever to be given to a patient when the patient has pain. The pain reliever is not administered regularly, only when needed.

    Example:

Patient: Clyde Robbins. DOB 01/01/19xx. Date: 01/01/20xx.
Acetaminophen 1000mg tablet per mouth every 6 hours as needed for headache. Dr R. Mansur
