- Individuals with moderate to good fitness
- Those who prefer a low-cost, equipment-light method
- General population, especially beginners or those in fitness/wellness courses

How to Do the Test
- Practice stepping up onto and down from the step before you take the test. Each step has 4 beats: up-up-down-down.

- Set the metronome to 96 BPM and start your timer for 3 minutes.
- Step up and down in time with the metronome: Up-Up, Down-Down (one full cycle = 4 beats).
- Use a tap, step method to alternate your lead leg and avoid muscle imbalance.
- Continue the stepping rhythm without stopping until the timer ends.
What You Need to Record
- Recovery Heart rate-(beats per minute) for 1 full minute immediately after completing the test
- Time of recovery (if applicable in your version of scoring)

Men:
VO2max = 111.33 – (0.42 × heart rate in bpm)
Women:
VO2max = 65.81 – (0.1847 × heart rate in bpm)
