    Lavalier Mic Properties and Uses

Lavalier microphones are small clip-on mics, often omnidirectional. They are widely used in film, broadcast, theater, and presentations, providing discreet, hands-free sound capture.

This type of microphone typically boosts high frequencies to enhance vocal clarity and intelligibility, compensating for the placement on clothing rather than directly in front of the mouth. Lavalier mics are most often electret-type condenser microphones, which makes them compact, lightweight, and easy to conceal.

Most TV broadcasters use lavalier mics clipped to their collar or lapel, commonly connected to a bodypack transmitter as part of a wireless system, giving them freedom of movement while maintaining consistent audio quality.
