FUI Y FUI - the different uses and meanings

IR y SER son verbos que se usan con frecuencia. FUI can be where one went. FUI can also be used to say what one was or was like in one of our ever changing phases in life.

Ahogar becomes ahogué, pegar > pegué, jugar > jugué (to keep hard G sound before E) → What can we conclude about -GAR verbs?_____________________________________________________
Lanzar >lancé (Z keeps soft S sound before E) → What can we conclude about -ZAR verbs?_____________________________________________________
