Ahora tú: summarize
How to summarize

- Read each story carefully.
- Identify who the main character is- their name, age, origen, location, timeframe.
- Identify what the general topic or purpose of the story is: condense/categorize only the important information that would help someone who hasn’t read it understand what it is about.
- Write a short summary with this information in your own words in Spanish.
Practice summarizing with a partner
Another effective way to help you get a deeper understanding of a story is to elicit basic information about the main idea or purpose of the story by asking a partner who, what, where, and when questions in Spanish.
