    3.5.0: Vocabulario

Look back at 1.5 Gramática to review numbers 1-30. Remember that numbers less than 30 are only one word. In this section we will learn how to form numbers 31-100.

It is important to memorize the tens digits in Spanish.

    Las decenas (Tens digits)

    30 treinta
    40 cuarenta
    50 cincuenta
    60 sesenta
    70 setenta
    80 ochenta
    90 noventa
    100 cien

To form a double digit number, simply use ¨y¨ (and) after your tens digit.

    Modelo:

    • 81 – ochenta y uno
    • 55 – cincuenta y cinco
    • 73 - setenta y tres

    Nota

Cien is used for 100 on the dot. Any number past 100 changes to ¨ciento....¨ and follows the pattern with the tens and ones digits.

    Modelo:

    • 101 – ciento uno
    • 137 - ciento treinta y siete
