Conversely, a meter-out flow control circuit restricts fluid leaving the actuator, controlling speed regardless of whether the load is aiding or opposing. This versatility makes meter-out configurations better suited for applications where load forces may aid cylinder movement. In a meter-out circuit, back pressure builds in the actuator, resisting the aiding load and ensuring smooth movement. A practical application is retracting a cylinder where the load assists movement; the meter-out control keeps movement stable by generating back pressure.
