In this unit you will examine some eukaryotic pathogens. The organisms to be studied belong in one of three groups: fungi, protozoans, and helminths. You will survey some of the pathogens within each group. Understand that this section is not intended to be a comprehensive study of all fungal, protozoan, and helminthic human or animal pathogens. As you study the organisms, you will identify them using microscopes and/or micrographs and will study characteristics of each, including their scientific names, common names, method of transmission, where they reside in the body, and the diseases they cause.
