    1.2.1: Transporting the Microscope

The microscopes are stored in a microscope cabinet with their microscope covers on them to prevent dust from gathering and damaging the microscope components. Students will need to demonstrate how to properly obtain and transport the microscope to prevent damaging the microscopes. Follow the instructions listed below each time you are transporting a microscope in the laboratory.

    1. Grasp the compound microscope by the arm with one hand and place your other hand under the base to support the microscope.
    2. Place the microscope in front of your body as you transport the microscope. By transporting it in this way you will prevent bumping it against laboratory benches and reduce the likelihood that it would be knocked out of your hands should someone bump into you.
    3. When you arrive at your table, gently set the microscope down on the table.
