About this work
Dark tree trunks in the foreground frame the softly lit scene in the centre. Our attention is drawn to two boatmen busy loading and unloading their boats. A mother and her child are seated on the shore: her yellow jacket partly open, the woman is about to breastfeed the fussy infant.
