About this work

Memorial, by J.H. Reijgers, 1807. This paper work of art behind glass was made by J.H. Reijgers, a drawing teacher in Middelburg. He dedicated the work to King Louis Napoleon, who had it purchased for the Royal Museum. This museum, successor to the Nationale Konstgallerij - the national art gallery - and precursor of today's Rijksmuseum, was housed for some years in the first-floor rooms of the Royal Palace on Dam Square, the former town hall of Amsterdam.
