About this work

The Zagedan lakes are of ancient glacial origin. They are surrounded by karst rock formations in a mountain cirque, which represents a typical ancient glacial landform in the Caucasus Mountains. The glacier retreated about 11,000 years ago, leaving behind the landscape we see today. Zagedan Valley with high-altitude lakes. Karachay-Cherkessia, Caucasus Mountains, Russia.
