About this performance
Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson said the state would send heavy equipment and volunteers to Hurricane, Utah, following widespread flooding. But funding for homeowners may be harder to secure.
Henderson went to Hurricane this morning. She spoke with flood victims at the Pecan Townhomes and met for about 45 minutes with agency leaders, including representatives from the Department of Natural Resources, UDOT, the Division of Emergency Management, Rep. Celeste Maloy’s office, Hurricane city and the homeowner-run flood committee.
“We wanted to make sure that state stakeholders were able to coordinate with local county and city leaders so that we could make sure that we were getting all of the resources that were needed for the community and then to just look at the damage and look at the immediate needs and the long-term needs and what the state can do to help,” Henderson said.
