About this recording
Todd Bonner wants to make it easier to remove his successors and other sheriffs across Utah.
“A sheriff needs to be held accountable at a higher level than his deputies,” Bonner said.
Bonner served as the Wasatch County sheriff for 10 years, ending in 2019. The successor he once endorsed, Jared Rigby, has taken leave after being charged with a felony count of obstruction of justice.
Then on Friday, Box Elder County Sheriff Kevin Potter put himself on leave after the vehicle he was driving collided with a motorcyclist in Ogden Canyon. Potter was investigated earlier this year after a confrontation with another motorist. No criminal charges were filed.
