About this film

Danny Meyer is a legend. Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, The Modern. Quintessential New York City restaurants. He is the author of a new book called What Could Possibly Go Right, and he is, of course, the founder and CEO of Shake Shack. Let me get this on record: I am a Shake Shack guy. It's the perfect burger to me. Shake Shack at the airport is a beacon of hope. Shake Shack is the burger that I eat more than any other burger, and if I could only have one burger for the rest of my life, it would be Shake Shack. So it was an honor to talk to the guy who started it all. I asked him all of my burning questions, from secret menu items, to the deliciously diabolical shack stack, to all the regional delights of St. Louis.

--- Expense Account uses food as an entry point into bigger conversations about culture, identity, taste, and the way we live now. It’s a cultural lens, where a meal becomes a window into someone's world and the world at large.

Hosted by food critic J Lee, the show is part of Emily Sundberg’s growing Feed Me media empire. Each week J will sit down with a guest and explore how food and culture are inextricably linked. It could be a chef or restaurateur, but it also could be a musician, a writer, a tastemaker, or the bartender at his favorite bar – because everyone eats food, everyone has a story, and everyone has a take.

Most food shows stay on the plate. Expense Account uses the plate as the spring board to talk about everything around it.
