About

The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress challenged musical artists to interpret material from its unparalleled archive of ethnographic recordings of traditional folk music. Artists were asked to put their own spin on these archival treasures, and to perform them at a special showcase during the Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City, Missouri in 2022. This video features Clare Sands, a sixth-generation fiddler and bilingual singer from Cork, Ireland, performing a song written by her cousin Tommy Sands, "The Music of Healing." From a recording of the American Folklife Center's 2008 AFC Homegrown Concert, "Tommy Sands, with Moya and Fionán Sands" (Tommy Sands, with Moya and Fionán Sands concert collection, 2008 October 9, AFC 2008/032).

Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
