About
Cultural historian and author Peter Guralnick spoke with art journalist Geoffrey Himes about his latest book, a biography of Sam Phillips, a pivotal figure in the history of 20th-century American music of many stripes. Owner of the small but powerful Sun Records Label in Memphis, Phillips was a major force in kick-starting the careers of Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Ike Turner, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley, among others.
