About
Nargiza Turanova describes her experiences as a home care worker. Originally from Turkey, she moved to Uzbekistan and then came as a refugee to the US. She speaks Turkish, Uzbek, Russian, and "some English." She began her training before coming to the US and has continued her care giver's training here, specializing in caring for the sick and elderly. Her current client speaks Turkish and she expresses concerns about working with English-only clients. Also talks about skills needed, her work days, what caregivers discuss when they talk to each other (mostly about clients), the skills she needs, and her satisfaction with the job. The interview was conducted in Russian and English with an interpreter.
