About
Taken from the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley off of WRGB channel 6, the CBS affiliate in Schenectady, NY serving the Capital Region. This is notably the latest dated tape in my collection, and the only one from the 2010s so far. As is with most early 2010s TV, some commercials are in HD 16:9 while others are still in SD 4:3.
The video starts out with the tail end of WRGB’s evening newscast with Doug Sherman’s sports report, giving you a glimpse at their HD-era graphics which were really an in-house botch at their 2004 graphics. Sinclair’s standardized graphics made that an improvement, and that is saying a lot!
Worth noting WRGB was still the only 518 station broadcasting in HD at the time, but competition was on its way - a month later WTEN upgraded its newscasts to HD with a new set and graphics that replaced ones they’d been using for over a decade. WNYT went HD 7 months later, in April 2012.
