About

Here's my recording of 'The William Steig Video Library' (1996).

This tape includes four animated shorts based on William Steig's children picture books.

1-Sylvester and the Magic Pebble (narrated by John Lithgow)

2-The Amazing Bone (narrated by John Lithgow)

3-Doctor De Soto (narrated by Ian Thomson)

4-Brave Irene (narrated by Lindsay Crouse)

The 'Doctor De Soto' got nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Short, interestingly enough.

Also, that Brave Irene short is such a nice breath of fresh air to me every time I watch it because, there have been WAY too examples in recent years (especially from Hollywood) where female characters are turned into unlikable girl bosses. But Irene here isn't like that at all. Her willingness to go through the snow to deliver her mother's dress in order to help her mother after she's been sick, and to keep pushing onwards despite all the hardships she went through are all very admirable character traits to me. This is an example on how you can write a strong character that just so happens to be female. It's really well done.

Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
