https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_Fly! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To Fly! is the longest-running and most universally popular film of its kind ever produced. Since its July 1, 1976, premiere at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., To Fly! has been seen by more than 150 million people around the world.

To Fly! was produced as a public service by Conoco Inc, as its contribution to America's Bicentennial celebration. It was filmed in the large-format IMAX process, which features exceptionally bright, sharp, and clear images. At the National Air and Space Museum, it is shown on a screen that is five stories high and 75 feet wide.

Featuring breathtaking aerial photography, To Fly! takes the viewer on a 27-minute voyage that begins with a balloon ascension in New England and concludes with a rocket flight into space. En route, the audience takes the passenger's seat in an aerobatic biplane, rides with the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels as they demonstrate precision flying, takes a helicopter trip through spectacular Monument Valley, and joins a hang glider over the perilous cliffs of Hawaii.

The winner of many national and international awards, To Fly! was named the best informational film of the 1970s, and The Washington Post called it "A National Monument." It was produced by Academy Award Winner Francis Thompson and filmed by MacGillivray-Freeman Films.
