The thoroughly dramatic plot by members of Hitler's staff to exterminate their leader is painstakingly spelled out in this film. Based entirely on fact, the film utilizes stock footage and features eyewitnesses who serve to recreate the startling event. Focusing upon the Benderstrasse, formerly the German defense building, the film's setting is the winter of 1942-43.st a recluse, Hitler tries to run the war single-handedly from this building. The sequences bring forth such men as Mussolini, Borman, Ribbentrop, Goering, Goebbels, and the leader of the conspirators, Col. Claus Stauffenberg. It's a story crammed with intrigue, adventure and historical insight. Narrated by James Mason.
