About

This is yet another found VHS tape. In this case there is interview material with various special effect artists who worked on the original Star Wars trilogy.

The material was found on a tape that also included supplemental content from the Star Wars laserdiscs. However, this material is not from those laserdiscs. I have been unable to determine the origin of this content. If you know, please let me know so I can update this page.

In any case, we have about 20 minutes of fairly solid and in-depth discussion on the effects of Star Wars episodes IV, V, and VI.

The source for this was a VHS tape made in the 1990s. The VHS is like 30 years old, picture and sound are imperfect. This VHS tape was captured as a ProRes422 rip from a broadcast VHS deck through a Black Magic converter. I did some light color correction and audio clean-up, but once again the source material was terrestrial broadcast quality. It is what it is.

My export is a .mov file. Internet Archive likes to recompress uploaded videos and distribute their version along with the original. If you’re downloading this and would rather have the “once-compressed” version instead of the “twice-compressed” version, make sure to download the .mov.

Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
